The structure of the mixed flow pump, whether it is a volute type mixed flow pump or a guide vane type mixed flow pump, is also composed of five parts: the impeller, the pump casing, the pump shaft, the bearing and the packing seal device.
The shape of the volute mixed flow pump is very similar to that of a centrifugal pump; while the shape of a vane type mixed flow pump is very similar to that of an axial flow pump. The impeller of the mixed flow pump is thick and short, part of it is like the impeller of the centrifugal pump; part of it is like the impeller of the axial flow pump. The water flow conditions in the impeller of the axial flow pump are different. Water flows in the impeller of the mixed flow pump. It is coming in axially. It flows out in an inclined direction, so a mixed flow pump is also called a diagonal flow pump.
There are two structural forms of the pump casing: one is the volute shape, such as the HB type mixed flow pump, which is basically the same as the centrifugal pump, but the pump body is wide and can be installed horizontally; the other is the cylindrical shape. For example, vane-type mixed-flow pumps and agricultural pumps are similar to vertical axial-flow pumps. Guide vanes are also installed in the pump body, and they are installed vertically.

The mixed flow pump is a water pump between the centrifugal pump and the axial flow pump. When its impeller rotates, it has both centrifugal force and lift force on the water. It relies on the combined action of centrifugal force and lift force to transport water.
Mixed flow pump absorbs the advantages of centrifugal pump and axial flow pump, and better overcomes the shortcomings of these two pumps. It is an ideal pump type and is very suitable for agricultural use.
